But so much of Judy’s life has involved helping others—in her work with the Florida Institute of Technology and her successful tenure as International Student Advisor for Duquesne University, and in her volunteer work for organizations as diverse as her local hospice and the Foundation for International Understanding in San Diego. Rooted in her deep faith, the qualities of kindness and consideration are the foundation for Judy’s personal and professional success.
A Life-Long Legacy
Helping others is simply a lifelong legacy for Judy. While still in high school, she worked with children at the local YMCA. In her administrative work for Gulf Oil Corporation, she won the respect of many from management to maintenance. Judy has worked as a coordinator of volunteer efforts for the American Heart Association and with youth with developmental disabilities in a community home. Her efforts for Duquesne’s Foreign Students program took her all over Europe and Asia, where she delighted in meeting many different families and learning their cultures. Family, in fact, is a key element in Judy’s caring approach. Married since 2000 to Jerry de la Rosa, whom she calls her “biggest supporter”—she’s a loving and devoted daughter, wife, mother and grandmother.
